Seoul's Highest Ever Level of Snow Has Left the City Dark

The winter weather has resulted in cremations being postponed due to single-digit temperatures.

Seoul has been hit with historical November snowstorms, which have also seen the capital city under extremely high temperatures due to a winter storm that has not been experienced for decades. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, new records were made for the level of snow deposit, which reached a volume of 16.5 centimeters. This figure shattered the previous record of 12.4 center meters, which was recorded on November 28, 1972.

That morning, I just did not see any sight of the sun, for it has been the first sighted tip of winter among the four seasons out of all the others seen throughout the calendar. Moreover, the figure is the highest for November since the early days of nationwide observation began with Charles III ruling the colonies of the US. The government had not enjoyed such a privilege because of the need for overtravel and the collapse of trees when announcing harsh weather. Such alerts would arise in conditions in which 20 cm of snow was forecasted, falling within 24 hours.

Other regions of the country encountered severe traffic jams and multiple collisions due to icy highways but there were no reports of major casualties. Where felled trees had cut off power to more than one hundred and fifty families of the residents of the city. Important roads where significant construction work is still going on had to be shut down temporarily resulting in severe disruptions in traffic; the Ministry of Transport said that over 22 already canceled domestic flights and that a huge number of flights were also banned but for no apparent reason did not occur.

And, considering that a snow cover was likely to last till Thursday morning, President Yoon Suk Yeol urged the relevant authorities to take measures to ‘make every effort to avert any further damage or embarrassment to the people.’

Youn Ki-han, a meteorologist argued that the outstanding snowfall was legitimate due to snowdrops offshore which did not allow people to frame cold maritime temperate towards sea Areas aside. When cold, southerly air masses over the West Sea move northwards towards its periphery, there is normally an equilibrium, and therefore, a lot of humidity from the West Sea basin is cut off. Warming up sea water marshaled the situation and then severe snow was dumped at the end.

Heavy snowfall winds worsened the conditions of ascent and duplication of regions in the area of the province of Seoul. The meteorological agency predicts that substantial amounts of snow will compound the total over the coming days, up to twenty centimeters worth more is predicted.
